Jury Statement:
Miodrag Krkobabic depicts invisible nets of social and existential habitats metaphorically in his video 6=36. Six friends from childhood, who all lived in one skyscraper, built on the ground full of underground waters, talk alone in front of the camera about each other. One of them is Miodrag Krkobabic himself. Establishing a kind of equilibrium between first-person addresses of the authentic social representatives and the cyclical editing which arranges these statements in the form of a collective statement of the micro-community, KrkobabicÂ’s video work treats concrete persons both like historically determined subjects and objects. Through the method of cross-referencing this video remains one of the most striking documents about disillusioned life in Serbia in the 1990s. |
