The Official Section, the most important activity in the Eighth zemos98, will be composed of 19 short films made on video. These works will be shown in the Teatro Alameda in Sevilla on 17th and 18th March 2006. The festival will open its activities on 14th March 2006.
The Selection Committee, overwhelmed by the more than 650 videos submitted, has made an Official Section in which works from 7 different countries will participate: United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Brazil, Uruguay, France and Argentina.
Works participating in this Official Section will be paid 150 € for the purposes of presenting the work and public screening. This is a pioneer decision among audiovisual festivals, in fact, the most meaningful evidence is: 652 short films submitted coming from 40 different countries from all over the world.
These short films, according to the vote of the public, will compose the next DVD zemos98. Besides, the best work submitted out of all the works received from Latin American authors will compete for a grant for accommodation and enrolment fees in the Master of Audiovisual Communication held every two years at the Universidad Internacional de Andalucia facilities in Rábida, in the region of Huelva.
The festival organization committee is now working to shape the parallel sections in which other works submitted will be shown too. Besides, all the works are being digitalized in colaboration with the Faculty of Communication in order to make them available for a comfortable video-on-demand.
