"Beat the Paint" examines the relationship between audio and video within the context of painting. Shot on Mini DV, the recorded sounds made when painting and their corresponding video clips are mixed in post-production into rhythms that become their own form of art. Is it possible to paint visually with sound? How does sound change the perspective of a painting? What happens when painting becomes music? What if time could be frozen and looped into rhythms that make up life? These considerations all come together in a wonderful five minute and 17 second indulgence of the artist's imagination.
